Inspirational stories from our apprentices/trainees

"Back when I was in the UK, I worked Data and Telecommunications. I started in the industry at 18 years old and did it for almost 10 years. Over the 10 years, I learnt a lot of skills that transferred very well into the AV industry. Things like cabling, terminating, and working off schematic drawings. Having these skills helped me come across into the Pro AV Solutions team as a Leading Hand. Not long after learning more of the trade, I moved up to a site supervisor role. I have now been with Pro AV for 6 years and have loved the change in Career.”

“I started an Electrical apprenticeship when I finished year 12 back in 2002. I was lucky to learn a range of trade skills from residential to commercial construction over a duration of 6 years before making a Career change into the AV world. I started at Pro AV in 2009 and accepted a role as a site supervisor, transitioned across from having a strong range of skills I had learnt from Electrical. RPL in the industry of Electrical and Communication industry provides a great foundation for AV. Over the past 13 years I have never looked back on my decision to enter the AV industry or the opportunity it has given me. A clean trade in comparison to other trades, with an ongoing opportunity for upskilling and learning and challenging yourself. For the past 2 years my role within Pro AV as a project manager speaks volumes about opportunity within AV for career progression."

"I started Telecommunications back in 2012, where I gained a lot of skills in terminating copper, fibre, commissioning, and rack installation. I am currently learning how to deal with other trades, and learning about technologies I didn't even know existed in the Audio Visual industry."
