Inspirational stories from our apprentices/trainees’

“During my AV apprenticeship I developed life-long skills that will follow me through my career. The company I worked for gave me one-day a week to attend TAFE so I would be formally qualified and have the theoretical knowledge for the technology we work with. Alongside this, the practical on-the-job training that was provided during my apprenticeship allowed me to apply these technical and construction skills. My mentors also taught me how to think on my feet, problem solve and manage my time which was so important to my professional growth and development.”

Pro AV Solutions NSW Commissioning Mentor

“I started out straight after completing my HSC into a job that my parents had found in the local paper. I went to TAFE one day a week for three years to achieve a cert 3 in Electrotechnology and communications. I then progressed through the company from an apprentice to a site Forman and changed paths to learn more detail on the technology that was emerging through the service team. By the time I was competent with all sorts of Audio Visual technology I moved into a role within the engineering team as a programming and commissioning engineer. There was an opportunity for me as I grew further within the company to move into a management role."

“I commenced my apprenticeship with little known expectations on a career path at the time. I was one of the initial apprentices in the country to start an AV apprenticeship in 2006. Since then I have never looked back and the opportunities it has provided and the career trajectory is amazing. From obtaining a trade and learning vital practical skills & theory knowledge, which excelled into a further career of Project Management and Business Leadership. I am now the Head Of Projects and part of a Global Program Management team deploying world class projects nationally and globally."
